Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was Handle. I couldn’t think of anything ornate to draw so I just did the front door handle with my keys in it. Black calligraphy ink pen with metallic watercolour paints for the details and view through the front door window. My arm still shakes so as I hold my sketchpad it wobbles…..

Walking through a railway arch we saw this 1950’s GMC truck. So I decided to have a go at painting it tonight in my black cartridge paper sketchbook. Used Windsor and Newton Watercolours and Arteza metallic watercolours.

Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was statue or monument. I’m not sure if Mow Cop, which stands on a ridge above Cheshire is a monument, but its still interesting. It was built as a folly in 1754? and apparently used as a summerhouse. Its owned now by the National Trust. Its open to the public but is accessible by uneven rocky paths. If you are interested it’s worth a visit. The road to it up Mow Cop hill is quite windy and narrow and ascends through the village of Mow Cop, Staffordshire.

Water colour sketch of my owl bag, some metallic paint used on the gold feathers and copper on the eyes and beak. Another observational painting, took about twenty minutes..

Coffee or tea mug, pencil sketch with watercolours on top. Plain and metallic. Trying to get accurate ellipses. I usually make the mistake of having stronger curves at the top than the bottom, when actually it’s the other way round!

At least that’s what I think it is? Looked through websites to try and identify it and I’ve labelled it now so I can remember…. Its a stone with a crystal flower shape on it, a bit like a dandelion…. Watercolour sketch. With metallic and normal watercolours.
#bandofsketchers prompt ‘stone’. Day 14.

I wanted to paint a view of Westport lake with snow and ice so when the prompt water came up for #bandofsketchers I decided to go for it.
Metallic and normal watercolours in my little A5 sketchpad.

Wooden puzzle box my grandfather made, he was a carpenter. I think I get my artistic abilities from him. It only opens one way. Watercolour and pencil on cartridge paper. It is a bit dark but I hope you can see it OK. Day 9, #30daysketchbookchallenge.

I’m doing sketches for the #30daysketchbookchallenge now. This was for day two. I decided to do a watercolour sketch to represent one of the old adverts you had in victorian times for old grocery shops.
I used Windsor and Newton Watercolours overlaid with Arteza metallic watercolours to make it more interesting.
