A small sketch

Banner, Peace Not War

The world is nervous because of what is happening in Ukraine. The fight has proved that the Ukrainians will not just give up. There neighbours are supporting them and sanctions are being weilded against their aggressive invaders. But somehow through this morass a peaceful solution needs to be brokered.

This is not a film, its not a story in a book. Humans make stories up to understand what is going on. We cannot just assume things will be OK in the end. Look back in history and it is full of mistakes and missteps.

Have you ever seen the film ‘Dr Strangelove’ starring Peter Sellars in several roles. I won’t write a spoiler, except to say it didn’t finish well.

Let us hope and maybe even pray that things do sort themselves out, and that we can recover and get ourselves out of this mess. Then we have to try and sort out global warming. Otherwise we might find ourselves going to hell in a handbasket!

Dove

Someday Peace and Love will be more important than War. Nature and the Environment will become recognised for how important they are. Maybe symbols of peace, like the dove, will get the message across. We need to take these concepts seriously. We need to stop being selfish and realise we shouldn’t be self centred. People in all walks of life, in this country, and abroad, are struggling. War wastes resources and ruins lives. We need to support each other not attack and deplore. As the song says. Let there be peace all over the world…

Cloud bird?

IMG_20200814_230116_963

It was high up in the sky, a cloud shaped like a bird? No shaped like a white dove. A dove of peace.

All around the world people looked up and saw it. The symbol of peace.

We saw it one evening, then again the next day. It was happening everywhere. People were posting images on the Web. On visage journal and quick telegraph!

The government’s didn’t like it. They asked their troops and scientists to investigate. Look at the occurrences. Telescopes were trained on each cloud. Radar and radio telescopes. No sign of a reason. It was a mystery.

A week after it started it ended. People saw Elephants and crocodiles in the clouds, turtles and Teddy bears. But no mote of dust or speck of mist became a dove of peace. People started to miss them. Fights broke out between neighbours, children cried. The world had lost magic. Sadness flew round the world. Maybe one day there woukd be an answer.

Among tiny paintings sold this weekend…

Three bees,

Two angels,

Two doves of peace,

Which makes me think, people do care about nature and climate change, people care about loving one another, and people care about peace.

The most interesting thing? They were mainly children who seemed to like them. Maybe having a symbolic image gives some comfort in these strange days.

I made sure I didn’t charge more than what it cost to make them. Had a chat this evening with my hubby. I know I really don’t do this for money, more to encourage people to take up art. If you can have the opportunity to do something creative, Take It! This world needs more creativity and thinking outside the box.

Peace

I have been thinking what I would like to hear more of this year and the answer has to be peace.

If more people turned round and decided not to fight, that fighting does not resolve things, that negotiation is the way to go, then perhaps the human race could get somewhere.

If money was not spent on armaments then it could be used to sort out global climate change. The resources used to build planes and missiles could be used to make solar panels or build desalination stations.

Instead we seem to just push on regardless and want to destroy not improve relationships between peoples.

I would like to quote John Lennon

“give peace a chance” … …
