Snow due

The last lot of snow fell a few weeks ago, now here is a threat of more. The forecast is for wet weather coming up from the south hitting cold air in the north. Wherever it clashes we will get the snow.

There is also the risk of ice, and possibly heavy sleet and high winds. Oh what fun. I’m staying in and snuggling if I can. We live in a city and don’t get things too bad. But even so we can sometimes get gridlocked as there are a lot of bottlenecks in the road system. It once took me three hours to dive home two miles due to abandoned vehicles.

Walking in the sleet

Walked a bit further today as there was less ice on the pavements. It did try and sleet or snow for part of the walk. We walked towards Hartshill church past the old hospital on one side and the local cemetery full of old trees on the other, then turned off towards Penkhull church. We saw some interesting ferns in a stone wall by the hospital and if the cloud had broken we might have seen a nice sunset but the sky remained cold grey and overcast…. Brrr

Yellow sky.

I was looking out of the window and the sky was so yellow I knew it was going to snow. I don’t know why I know that but there is a certain tinge it takes on when the snow is coming.

I looked out later and indeed big white flakes of feathery snow were falling, mixed in with a cold rain.

The cats are curled up and warm and I’ve got an extra heater on and I’m sitting here with my hot water bottle (for my bad back). I’m huddling, watching the sleet and wondering if I should go out shopping. Life goes on.
