Should we?

We were rehearsing for our play that we are putting on in May this afternoon. The director decided to have a chat about whether to continue. We have two weeks to go. We had a couple of people drop out and we’ve already postponed it once because of health issues. In actual fact we have been doing really well. But doubts are creeping in and we needed to steady nerves.

I suggested that if we pulled the play now people might walk away from it. We’ve put a lot off effort into the scenery  and props and it would be sad to see it not go ahead.

People agreed to doubling up on a couple of characters, adding two more rehearsals and the director willmdo some coaching.

Break a leg!

Impish

I’m playing an Imp in the Penkhull Mystery Play, I have one line (and a few more as the narrator). It’s not obvious I’m an Imp, I just have to shout out “my name is Jakobah” , push a rock across a cave mouth. Then shout “goodbye”. There were more lines but they were cut because the play was originally one and a half hours long so it had to be edited. Maybe this is another case of measure twice, cut once! Anyway I hope to do so some more painting later x

Singing tonight

Choir was hard tonight, we were somehow bad with our timing, a bit out of tune and spent 40 minutes going over one piece of a song. We all seemed a bit tired, and our section was singing the main tune (we generally sing the backing part). It didn’t help that were singing “to make you feel my love” by Bob Dylan, but some of us were singing the Adele version!

By the time we had finished we had warmed up to the rehearsal and sounded a lot better.

Being in a choir is great for your mental health and helps you socialise, you can find lots of local choirs in the UK, so why not try it out?
