One tiny block of cheese!
My friend ordered some food on the Internet for home cooking. I saw what was in the box. There were various things:
Lots of herbs, chick peas, box of tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, sweet potato, garlic bulb, two carrots, baby carrots, two bags of potatoes, a shallot, two onions, green beans, a small pouch of honey, spices, an aubergine, an avocado, sumac?? And other stuff. Including bags of ice to keep two packets of minced meat and two chicken breasts cool.
There was also a tiny block of cheese, two inches by one inch by one inch, that made me chuckle…. Oh and a Partridge in a pear tree!
Mothership pie
We went out to Trentham Gardens for a pie and a walk.. Yes there is a pie under there. Beneath the chives and grated cheese. On a bed of mashed potatoes with onion gravy. It was delicious. A Pie Minister Moo pie. (warning, contains meat).
23 eggs!
It was an offer I wasn’t going to refuse. I’ll go shopping said hubby. So I said just take one bag then you can’t buy too much.
Do you need a list? No I’ll be OK. Well don’t buy a roast chicken, just get some thighs. We don’t need a lot, just a few things.
I knew there was a problem when he carried in two huge bags of shopping. I’ve not got much space in the fridge.
He bought:
An amaryllis (we already have FOUR)
A loaf of bread (we already have one and two half used loaves).
Two torches and some batteries (to go with at least five he already has).
A bunch of flowers
A box of frozen haddock
Three tubs of olives,
A bag of spinach
A roast chicken
Beefburgers
Gammon steaks,
A beef joint
And fifteen eggs (to go with the eight he already bought yesterday).
When I asked why he had bought the eggs he said you can never have enough eggs!
Comfort food
Apologies to vegetarian and vegan readers please do not read further. Also anyone whose religion does not allow eating pork. I apologise and do not wish to cause offence.
————————————————————- We had sausage egg and chips for tea tonight. It cheered me up.
It did remind me of the Monty Pythons Flying Circus sketch about a man asking what he can order in a cafe and the list goes from egg and chips through various permutations to spam egg and chips, spam egg and beans u to and including ‘spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam…… And spam’.
I howl with laughter when I see it.
I can remember being sent to the shops by my mum and saying ‘plumrose chopped ham with pork’ over and over so I would remember the convoluted name. I know it was before I was seven. I’m sure it was after we got a black and white TV. I can remember seeing adverts for it. Perhaps I have got the two mixed up…..
Full English breakfast
We don’t have these very often, but as we had gone out to see the train at Apedale we decided to have a full English breakfast. Apologies to vegetarians, there are alternatives available.
Full English in this case consisted of bacon, eggs, tomato, beans, black pudding, sausages and hash browns with two slices of toast. Sometimes they put in mushrooms instead of black pudding.
It was very tasty… . Washed down with a mug of decaff coffee.
