Trying to paint a galaxy

Without flicking paint! Each dot so far  and each smudge is from a brush touching the canvas. It’s a bit over exposed. It’s acrylic on a small 7×7 inch canvas. I might paint a tardis on it if it works. There are hundreds of dots and I’m really struggling to find a brush with a decent point. More to do!

Packaging

How do I send a canvas in the post? I have wrapped it in bubble wrap but when I got to the post office they didn’t have any boxes big enough. They suggested I put it in a bin liner and tape it well but I didn’t think that would be secure enough. I asked them if they had any old cardboard boxes and they gave me two small boxes with low sides. I will try and unfold them and use them to strengthen the front and back. I was then going to use a black bin bag, but I went in the petrol station to fill up. They were chucking out a large cardboard box so I asked for it. I will use that as outer packaging with lots of tape. I’m glad I called in. Wish me luck, and the canvas a safe journey X.

Parking problem

I was looking for a parking space at the hospital today. It took a while but I got one, then I struggled to fit square in the space and leave enough room for cars on either side. I went to the parking meter and paid for an hour.

When I got to the pharmacy I had to wait twenty minutes for new tablets, but that was not unusual. I had half an hour left when I got back to the car, and the distance to get off the car park was about 200 yards.

Guess how long it took to get out? Half an hour! Cars were queuing all the way up to the barrier. You could turn right or left, but the car park leads onto a road that goes through the hospital grounds. And that was chockablock with cars and buses. Both ends of it lead onto traffic lights and then main roads. So it was effectively pretty gridlocked, with only small numbers of cars released every few minutes. My main worry? Will I get fined for staying over the hour I paid for?

Woo Who!

David Tennant is back as the 14th Doctor Who. He’s starring alongside Catherine Tate as, Donna Noble and as usual they try and save the world.

This digital drawing was done in about 2006? I drew it at a website called Sketchfu that no longer exists, I did quite a few portraits on my old wacom tablet. I’ve always been quite proud of this one!

I love that Tennant is back for three special episodes over the next few weeks. It’s made me happy!

Renoir collaboration

The second, and most difficult, painting collaboration by Orme Art Group from this summers challenge.

It’s, amazing to have so many techniques and styles pulled together in this final image. Some parts line up better than others but it really shows the tenacity of the group with all the complicated figures and colourful background we tried to copy. I hope Renoir would not have been too disappointed!

Somedays life catches up with you.

Imagine, you have been ill for days, you feel awful, you’ve got a meeting to sort out an exhibition…..

Open your front door to go to your car and see a sticky, stripy envelope stuck to your windscreen…

Shock? Horror? What’s this?

My residents parking pass expired last week and I hadn’t realised. What to do? Can’t park there without a valid pass. So took myself up the office in a panic and full of cold and coughs.

Right. I could challenge it, fill a form in. I explained I had not had a renewal letter. The young man behind the desk said there had been a computer error?! Letters were not sent. I should have looked at my windscreen.

(DO YOU LOOK AT YOUR WINDSCREEN EVERY TIME YOU GET IN YOUR CAR?)

Plus I have been really ill so I hadn’t thought about it….

We will see what happens…..
