Names?

From the fuzzy grey of my brain I seem to have developed a need to think of an unusual name that I could, if I ever wrote a novel, use as a character.

This normally happens when I’m half asleep, it might be a continuing dream. And like a dream, I think of a name and then almost immediately forget it!

I don’t have a list, I didn’t think of writing names down. But I think each name is a little complicated, perhaps having several syllables. Is this normal? Is there a name for it? (like nominative determinism, where a person’s name relates to their job… A Mr Kitchenn as a cook for example?)

I am trying to think of names….

Buttercup Sylvester

Pamela Praline

Humphrey Othello?

Or maybe

Martia Stephinkos

Greg Carlos Carlisle?

I think I come up with better ones when I half asleep.

Sweetie Gwurly

Does anyone else talk to their cat using nicknames and silly words?

I catch myself calling them foofs, and chuzzies, tussy pats, fluffiez, nus-nus.

I call the boy cats nussies, mussy cats, twuddles, puddy pats.

I call the girl cat fluffy chuff, sweetie gwurly, little fud, and hus.

There are other words I can’t remember. I’ve always done it with all my cats. I don’t know why. I think they are ‘terms of endearment?’ I think I probably do it all the time. They are similar sounding to either their names or alternative words that mean cat like puss, pussy cat, puddy tat etc. Am I strange?

Cat names

I was just thinking of the names I call my cats, not just their proper names but pet names.

Seamus is also Mouse,

He can be Mus it Tus tat.

Moggie, buggle, pud,

Paws, tatty cat.

Seamus can be fluff,

Great big paws.

He is muscle tough,

Also muggle and Mugs.

Gracie can be girl, girly, sweet paws,

Kitty cat, choochie, mooch, grinkle,

Spooks, cheeky tat, shortie,

Garlic, glory, tiny.

Splash, flash, sassy………

I don’t know where half of these come from. Garlic is because the pattern on Gracies face looks a bit like a garlic bulb. Seamus is mainly Mouse, they know their own names and come when called or in Seamus’s case whistled.

I think I probably call them other things which interchange between the two or cover both of them. Like little batty cats, bat’s, puddy puds, puggles, tusses and cusses.

Don’t ask me why.!
