Got some!

I went to get some tiny canvases today. I went back to the craft shop I got them from previously and spoke to the lady that runs it. She said she hadn’t been able to get anymore of them, they don’t seem to be making them now? I asked if she had other small canvases so she directed me to the right aisle. As I looked through the canvases there were 5 packets of 2 canvases per packet! I was really glad that I’d gone and looked and not taken her word for it!

I only sell them for £2 each so it’s not much of a markup. I’m effectively only getting 90 pence for something that can take a few hours painting. But I like the idea of sharing my art.

Owlish

A small turquoise and blue painting of two owls I painted a few years ago. I want to do a few more like this, semi realistic but with a bit of quirkiness.

I’ve got a small craft table in June and I need to restock my paintings. I’ll post about the craft fair soon.

I’m asking for suggestions for small paintings, ideas for new pictures? These will be matchbox sized or slightly bigger. I need to do some paintings of bees on flowers. I painted giraffes against sunsets. I might add some metallic paint again.

I just want to get going. But I’m a bit blocked mentally at the moment. I look at me easle and think, tomorrow? But that begins tomorrow again…. Life is strange.

Jewellery for sale

I’ve got some of my glass pendants for sale at Etruria Industrial Museum cafe. I also have some cards and prints. It feels good to have work accepted by them, I don’t have many outlets available in the area. I need to find some more places and try my hand at craft fairs again, but I want to work towards more fine art.

I like doing craft fairs but if you don’t sell enough and you have to provide your own table, or even gazebo, it’s hard to make enough to cover the costs of the fees, plus I am not capable of putting up a gazebo on my own… Possibly a Sun Umbrella, but that might not be suitable!

Glass

Just found this on my Facebook page of glass cabochons I made in a workshop that my friend did a wireweave around. They each have chains and they were for sale in my craft stall last year. I sold a couple but they are sitting safe in a bag waiting for when I can do it again.

The pleasure of art is that it helps me mentally. Doing workshops where I learn new things also helps. This lockdown has been difficult. I don’t want to go out much. I can’t go to workshops and apart from the risks of going shopping, I’m socially isolating myself. Yes I might miss a few things, but I feel safer that way. I think our government has lifted lockdown too early. I think it will lead to another spike. Am I being too pessimistic? Possibly.

Owls

This is a tiny painting I did a  few years ago, I’ve got twenty tiny canvases to paint over the next couple of weeks so I might do another one of these.

Other subjects will include Holly and Ivy, Christmas tree baubles, some snowy images and frost patterns.

Why? I have to do some art work for two upcoming craft fairs, and I wanted to do something seasonal but not too clichéd or twee. X
