Celtic knots

My college thesis was on Pre Christian Celtic art. I have continued to love the knotwork designs they created. I was interested how the Celts moved westwards across Europe and into the British Isles. Their art was stunning. Various archaeological discoveries of intricate gold and bronze artefacts showed the sophistication of their culture. A massive horde of treasure was found at Sutton Hoo and historical artefacts were found in Halstatt in Austria? I’m sorry it’s 40 years since I wrote it and memory fades.

I continued to draw celtic knotwork, but this style of art needs practice and I haven’t done much of it recently.

Celtic?

Digital drawing in response to some celtic knot drawings I did thirty or forty years ago. I started with Artrage, then used photodirector app and incollage, finally I used a filter in Instagram. Sketching the patterns was easier for me back in those days, but by using digital technology I can create more complaxity.

Idea for a map?

Blurry old photo based on celtic art. I’m trying to decide what patterns and textures I can use to create a map for college. I’m thinking of using photoshop to turn something like this into a maze / map?

Next step will be to upload it and try and change the colours and sharpness. Also to work out a route and decide if there will be celtic or saxon patterns. Will there be a treasure trove of coins or ornamental armour?

Horse at Trentham

Copper tree, copper sculpture. Photo taken at Trentham Gardens last year. I think it looks Grecian, or Celtic. I like to collect interesting images and this was very striking. I think it’s on the far side of Trentham Gardens Lake? I haven’t been back since with all the problems with the virus and the way things are going it might be winter or later before I go back? Various parts of the country have gone back into increasing quarentine measures. The threat for them is fines of up to £10000 for breaking the rules. So I will remember things rather than going out much. I will try and stay safe, and watch small businesses fail. The world is beautiful and sad.
