Gingko?

Seen on an allotment. This tree with strange leaves. They were changing colour and may be gone next week as we are having a cold, wet and windy spell, it may even be frosty in the morning. I think it might be a Gingko?

Yes it is! Gingko Bilboa. Apparently the tree that time forgot according to Mr Google. Now I know I might order one from t’internet as my Yorkshire friend says.

Hubby pulling out long nails

This was hubby at the allotment today, using a long crowbar to help pull out very long nails from rotten wood surrounding old raised beds today.

Some of the nails were eighteen inches to two foot long!

Can’t explain why he’s wearing shorts and a long coat. His head is bent over as he doesn’t have a visor on his motorbike helmet. Why he’s wearing it? I also don’t know. He came home tired and happy! By the way I miss heard him when he came in. He said he’d been working with ‘vast nails’, I thought he said ‘fast snails’

🤣

I thought I would combine the two photos. It looks like he is levering up the world!

Two old codgers

Hubby and I, helping in the local allotment. We are helping a community project clear a couple of old allotments of weeds so they can be used for growing produce. It is slow going to get rid of so many weeds. We are trying to take out the cooch grass and convolvulus (bind weed). However we are leaving some flowers like poppies in situ. I wasn’t feeling well today so I only managed a bit of work. Its going to take a while to get on top of it. Hopefully by next spring it will be planted up and ready for a good summer of growth. One thing that is already there are apple trees with masses of apples on them. We were allowed to take a few home with us.

On an allotment

Our art group met this morning to help weed an allotment for a local community group that has taken over a couple of them. There was lots to pull out, but also some beautiful ornamental poppies which we tried to leave in. I was pulling out couch grass, dandelions, euphorbia, dock plants and other weeds. I do think allotments are a good way to get fresh air and exercise when you want to also produce some food for yourself. My hubby was so kern he started asking about getting an allotment to grow fruit trees. We shall see.
