Exterminate!?

One day a few years ago we visited the Churnet valley railway. We got on at Cheddleton and traveled to Froghall  wharf. We didn’t realise but there was a Dr Who dalek at the station, plus a tardis! We stopped for coffee and cake and watched as the remote control dalek trundled up and down the platform while people took photos and videos.

I’ve been watching Dr Who on TV since it started in the 1960’s. I used to hide behind the settee when the cyber men came on. I still watch when it’s on now.

The Churnet Valley railway is based on a line which runs between Cheddleton and Froghall, also running towards Leek in the Staffordshire moorlands. Plans are being worked on to extend the line towards Leek and possibly Stoke as the track bed is mainly still in situ except where they built a supermarket in Leek on top pf the track.

Walking

I like a wooded track to walk along, away from roads and fumes, especially if its a link between two places I want to get to and from. But strangely I don’t like to walk in woodland. I worry I will get lost. I’ve walked around some places and lost track of where we were. I even tried looking for the moss on the side of the trees to see if I could decide which way was north! Luckily the sun came out so I could tell which way was west, then I saw a way marker! I can’t imagine going to somewhere in a wood in the countryside and finding my way out! You can tell I’m nervous of it because of the number of exclamation marks I’ve used!

But a gentle walk along a wooded path in the town? That’s fine… Funny how different things affect different people.

Trains

We got a nice shed so my hubby could have somewhere to store all his bikes and bike bits. But something has migrated in there. OO guage trains, hornby dublo and triang, have moved in. The bikes, tyres, tubes, wheels have been evicted to various bushes in the garden, sheltering from summer showers.

Trying to explain that if he gets a couple of storage boxes or some shelves. He could put things away and not have to step over train transformers to get in. Also if we get a pasting table he won’t have to kneel on the floor… I don’t think being organised is his strong suit….
