Name the professional athletes you respect the most and why.

Dame Sarah Storey won her 19th Gold medal at the Paris 2024 paralympic games today. She has competed at 9 paralympics over several years. She started out as a swimmer but then took up cycling. Her 19th gold was for winning a road race around Paris. She also competes in the velodrome. She was born in 1977 and was made a dame because of her abilities as a sportswoman. Her physical disability is an underdeveloped left arm and hand from before she was born.

I started watching the paralympics tennis and our man was loosing. I tried ignoring it and he started to win. Now I’m caught between wanting to watch and see who wins and not watching so I don’t jinx it!

It’s odd to feel I have any influence over the outcome. But listening to the game seems OK? Very strange. I’ve had this happen in other situations. The football world Cup was on, I watched, we lost. So I’d rather not watch and allow others to see the result no matter what happens!

Watching Paris paralympics

I am glued to my TV. The Paris paralympics started on Wednesday and since my Internet was down I got into it. Team GB is doing really well and I have limited my Internet use now it’s been restored to the gaps between TV programmes showing the athletes in action.

So far I’ve watched Boccia (like bowls but using cloth covered softer balls), archery, athletics (field and track, with various disabilities), rowing, badminton, table tennis, tennis, cycling, and blind football. There’s also been wheelchair rugby and basketball.

It’s all fascinating and the skills the athletes show is amazing. If you can watch have a look!

I just want to switch off!

I’m watching the last day of the Paralympics. It’s been a wonderful display of talent and sporting prowess. My only dislike? Repetitious ad breaks! Yes I know who the sponsors are. I don’t need reminding every five minutes!

Let me put this out there. I’m not in the market to buy a new car, some new technology, or a new TV. I’m not interested in the channels new dramas, and if I did I wouldn’t need to be told over and over again when it’s on, my short and long term memory is fine… Its still 2019 isn’t it?

Staying up too late

Been staying up to late to watch the Olympics. I went to bed about 4am, but woke up at about 8amso I’m shattered. What was I watching? The semifinals of the mens 10 meter diving. I could have got up at 7am to watch the final, but I was still asleep. I’m just glad they are only on every four (or five) years. Considering it almost didn’t go ahead, I think the Japanese have done a marvellous job as hosts. I just hope people stay safe an the covid levels reduce. The Paralympics are about to start. I wish all the competitors a great games.
