A man?

Describe a man who has positively impacted your life.

One of the reasons I love science is that I started watching “the sky at night” bbc TV programme from an early age.

The presenter at that time was Patrick Moore, later to be knighted. He was an amateur astronomer who popularised science in general and astronomy in particular. This was at a time when most programmes were presented by men. What it did do was help me get into critical thinking and formed an interest in science me.

The reason why I question the query asking which MAN influenced me is the fact that women presenters could be as important. For instance Maggie Aderin-Pocock is one of the main presenters of ‘the sky at night’ now. She has been doing it for several years now and her enthusiasm and intelligence shines through.

Thank you Keith!

So many things have gone wrong lately. I lost a letter from the government and didn’t know what to do. It had warned me I might get fined if I didn’t fill in a form.

First I rang the local council, they gave me a phone number. Yesterday I rang it but due to technical problems they were not accepting calls.

So today I rang back. I spoke to a lovely and helpful man called Keith. He said he could help find the letter and what form I needed to fill in but the system was down so he would ring me back…

A few minutes later he called back. He had found my account and could complete the form with me over the phone but I would have to submit it myself so he would save it for me.

I’m so glad he helped, the 20 questions were complex and vague at the same time. I tried my best to answer accurately. I think I did OK. Once we were finished he gave me a long reference number and explained what I needed to do to submit the form. I explained that I sometimes shake I can hit the wrong keys. I asked what to do if I went wrong. He said just ring the department back with the reference number.

Then he said he could stay on the line and talk me through it! He did so and the form was submitted successfully! Thank you Keith!

He was young once

Old eye, still looks out. No one can remember it’s youth like I. He still has the sparkle, the strength, despite the depth of flesh. Sometimes gentle, sometimes proud. He reminds me of am ambassador, so aloof.

My hubby, old flesh, heart still beats gently. I’m still in love with him, even with his mad thoughts. If it was a previous age he would have been a warrior king. Not always right, but always strong.

Dodgy man

Dodgy man! We came home today and saw a man looking in our hedge. We asked what he was doing and he said he was looking for a box he’d hidden there so his mum didn’t see it. He said it was a ring doorbell that he’d spent £80 on, but he’d panicked and hid it incase she found out he’d bought it. (he was very scruffy and dirty and said he’d been a tattooist but now he sits drawing outside sainsburys). I helped him look while hubby looked in the garden. I wanted to prove it wasn’t there mostly so he would go away. It’s worrying having people put things in the hedge. We have found stolen things in the past we have reported to the police! He eventually left. I felt sorry for him but it was dodgy! Hubby told him if he comes back we will have a ring the police.
