Dentists appointment…

Well that was a waste of time!

I set out early and spent half an hour in a very hot car travelling about 1.5 miles. I had to walk quite a way due to no spare parking spaces.

I got in to the dentists and reported to reception, ‘your waiting area is upstairs’. Oh! About 20 steep steps, one handrail. If I got up I would struggle to get down. Parkinsons does not make things easy.

So I explained it was not possible. I didn’t want to fall. I asked if I could go in a downstairs consulting room. They tried their best and my dentist tried hard to see if they could fit me in later. But they didn’t ask me! In the end I stopped them. ‘why don’t you let me come back another day?’ they were relieved, I was relieved. Going back in a couple of weeks. The trip home? Another traffic jam. I’m home and hot and bothered with no treatment. I need a rest!

Out to lunch

My friend took me out this afternoon for lunch. We went to a pub called the Star at Stone  and had a pleasant lunch. It’s on the Trent and Mersey canal and sits next to the towpath so it’s reachable from the water as well as the road. The decor is quite rustic and a nice mash up of old chairs and oak tables.

On the way home we drove home through the countryside on a road that parallels the main road but is more twisty and interesting. The sun was low and shining on the sides of buildings giving them a beautiful glow. A definite pick me up after days of grey mist.

Helping people

Write about a random act of kindness you’ve done for someone.

I try and help most people. I will not go into details, but in my previous job I used to try and help the people I was employed to look after. If they were not being helped by other staff I used to get involved and see what I could do.

I guess I’ve given someone an umbrella when she had nothing to help keep her dry. I’ve driven hitch hikers up to places I wasn’t even going to. Last week someone stopped us as we got in the car. He was a stranger but had a big bag of shopping and asked for a lift up our hill. We took him to his door..

I do things without considering how it will affect me. I think helping people is important. If you can help you should.
