Nowhere

If you won two free plane tickets, where would you go?

Never flown, never will. Too scared. I like insects, snakes, spiders, I don’t mind thunder and lightning.

I’m not so scared of flying I guess, just the prospect of crashing. Plus I have no control over the airplane. At least if I’m in a car, train or on a boat I could stop and get out, get off at a station, or jump overboard and swim if necessary.

But planes? No! So if I won two free plane tickets I would give them to someone who needed them, or to relatives so they could fly over and visit me. Or auction them off for charity? I don’t know.

I keep seeing adverts where you can win houses over a million pounds. But I won’t enter the draw. How would I keep a massive house warm? How to light it? How to clean it? I don’t have spare cash. Perhaps I could rent out rooms. But it’s a pipe dream. If I won I wouldn’t want it. I would give it to a charity possibly or sell it to someone else who wants it. I just need enough money to stay comfortable and manage to live on for the rest of my life. X

Joined and left a page

I joined a fun science page on Facebook this week. But soon realised that there were a lot of sceptics there. For everyone discussing a theory five seemed to be completely anti the facts! I should have laughed but I could not believe it! There were people who were anti everything.. I decided to leave the page.

I also posted to a page about clouds and again there was a discussion about chem trails (saying the condensation trails from aircraft have chemicals pumped out of them!). The trails are water vapour condensing around dust and ice particles in the air. My question to the commenter was to fact check his theory, he told me to check mine. What fun. I give up. Maybe science was taught differently in my childhood….

Flying

Never flown

Never will

Can you make me?

Not unless I’m asleep

Completely unconscious

The world blotted out?

But what about

My carbon flight print?

I would not fly far

Maybe, island hop, to Skye?

Perhaps I could hanglide?

Or take a hot air balloon

Over my home town.

Or an airship blimp?

Parachute strapped to my back

Or wings glued on like Icarus?

Don’t get too close to the sun

But I would have my eyes closed

Vertigo engaged.

I would rather NOT fly.

Condensation and chemical trails

A friend posed the question, what comes out of airplane engines? Con or Chem trails? It’s a question I can’t resist answering, I’m hopefully telling you something you already know?

Condensation trails are what comes out of plane engines. Water vapour from the engines condenses out onto dust particles in the upper atmosphere. They cause the characteristic long thin trails up high in the sky. On the other hand chem trails were the US using crystals of silver iodide which is a harmless salt. It acted as nucleation  point for water droplets and was washed out of the clouds it had been released into. They used it to make rain during droughts, I’m not sure if that is still the case.

There is a Kate Bush song about it which I’ve forgotten. We had to learn a few of them a few years ago I can’t remember which one.

Getting back to normal?

Day 32, urban sketchers challenge.

Medium, spectrum noir colouring pencils with a metallic sheen.

This morning when I got up I saw another con trail in the sky, this time horizontal north/south. Then as I started to draw I saw a plane and another con trail cut across the sky, west to east. I could see the tiny plane. I knew I would not be able to do it justice so I left it out.

The next door neighbours back yard beyond the trellis fence is a bit boring. I’m waiting for hanging baskets to hang off the fence and brighten things up.

Back to normal? I don’t think so…..
