I want a light red
Not a pink
Not orange
Crimson?
Perhaps,
Maybe vermilion,
Something punchy,
Not magenta,
Not alizarian
Not a deep cadmium red (hue)
So many names
But which one will be right,
What is the correct tinge?
Works in progress
Paint laid on paint,
Building up layers,
Blood red?
Maybe if I put my heart into it.

Oh, at last someone faces the same problem as me… I often have tough time in getting the “perfect red” I want and it was wonderful of you to make a poem out of it…!

I have not yet Struggled with greens, maybe because I have never needed a perfect one… π

I can only afford a limited number of colours… Then I sneak other ones in. I’ll never make any money as an artist!

So, so relatable. Same problem here…
I too have just 12 shades of water colours and just 2 acrylic paints (the rest are dried up)
I don’t think I can ever make money at it, too. π But well, I love drawing and would keep on Just because of my love… π

Thank you, I’m no poet, I just like playing with words.
