Mini mince pie!

Mini mince pie with fifty pence piece to show the scale…. A nice nibble, but moreish. I didn’t want just one. I got these in the local supermarket because they didn’t have ant full size ones (about double or triple this). The crust overlaps the tinfoil cup shaped base, and the filling only comes half way up the inside. But it was a tasty morsel.

Ducklings

We saw this duck and her ducklings today, she must have had a second brood.

I took a few photos as one of the ducklings was jumping on and off its mother’s back. I tried hard but it was only fir a few seconds and I think if I’d done a film of them they would have been too far away to capture the details.

They were sweet. Cute. I hope they grow up sturdy and healthy. X

Tomatoes ripening-at last!

A few tiny tomatoes, some from our plants, most from an allotment we helped on. I think they were brought on by some ripe bananas that give out a gas which helps ripen fruit around them. My hubby says the chemical symbol for the gas is Ethene (previously called Ethylene) CH2=CH2….We have a few apples too. I used a cooking apple yesterday with some cider to make a very tasty apple sauce. I’m going to use the rest of the apples up in a cake.
