Planter

Bottle oven shaped planter I painted.

The falcon works in Stoke has an emblem on the wall of the old derelict pottery, it is a Goss hawk. I took a photo of it and painted it onto this wooden planter from Project 2000?in Stoke on Trent. I painted on all the individual bricks too. It’s been outside for a couple of years and it’s still looking good because I put a thick layer of yatch varnish all over it to protect it.

Planter

I painted this wooden planter last year? I think. Its been on display with other artists works. It was one of several planters that were done for something called BID. But I really want it back. At this rate it will be too late to plant it up. It’s based on the Pottery called Goss Works, or the Falcon Works, in Stoke, Stoke-on-Trent.

Falcon works

This is the falcon I am painting on the planter for the Stoke 2000 project. I just need to get a better image of it. I shall go out on a bright day and see if I can get an image with some good shadows on it. The bricks are also a mixture of reds, oranges, and burnt brown colours. I might take the pattern round on the sides. I hope to bring the planter to life.

Wooden bottle ovens?

I have just got involved in an Art project. #theStoke2000 project. Artists are being invited to collaborate in painting wooden bottle ovens. These can have plants put in the top of them to use as planters.

Each artist will be producing an image that relates to Stoke on Trent and they will be used as part of a local art trail. I’m thinking of painting a plaque from the Falcon Pottery Works which is just round the corner from where I live. I think I need to get some more paints before we go into lockdown again. When it’s finished I will post a picture of it.
