Just saw this posted at Facebook. It says it’s from 1574, but I doubt it. But some of the colours names are really funny. Trying to read the font is a bit difficult so I’m leaving this as a large format picture. For instance ‘Gooseturd Green’, very descriptive! I will leave you to ponder the rest!

HAAA! They’re wonderful! “Gooseturd greene” seems to be old: https://books.google.com/books?id=NtTCDwAAQBAJ&pg=PT215&lpg=PT215&dq=goose+turd+green+etymology&source=bl&ots=V19tMBWy3m&sig=ACfU3U0rLB0Qs4H8QwLyL6IW5CTciQDEuQ&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjypKi-8pnyAhWPQc0KHRGKBz4Q6AF6BAgiEAI#v=onepage&q=goose%20turd%20green%20etymology&f=false That links to a book re Elizabethan England by William Harrison. I did a search for “gooseturd green etymology.” Now you’ve got me curious…will look for more. 🤗👋

There’s at least one ref to “Dead Spaniard,” too, as a color. Amazing. Thank you for sharing the list!
