New paintings and regular art updates.
In small writing. Loud Mouth Women choir will be performing at Audlem Music and Arts Festival on 28th May 2023. We will be singing for an hour at the Methodist Chapel there. Audlem is a small village on the road between Woore and Whitchurch in Cheshire. We have sung at many of the festivals there during the late May bank holiday. I think we are trying to actually teach the audience some of our songs during the performance. Not long to go. I’ll find out the time of the music set later.
View of the organ and some of the exposed brickwork where the plasterwork has either fallen off or has been removed. In places brickwork is missing. The main doors at the front of the building are barred on the inside with planks of wood, to prevent unauthorised access to the old Chapel. It looks tired and dilapidated but when I think back to how it was a few years ago there has been considerable improvement, slowly but surely it is coming back to life. It was a privilege and pleasure to hear the organ being played yesterday and to perform there in such amazing surroundings.
My grandad was a carpenter and made this many years ago. I never met him as he had died before I was born. But he carved the lytch gate at the parish church where I came from, and the altar rail in the Central Hall (Methodist Chapel). This is carved out of a peice of oak with bits of thick card nailed around the sides and tiny cannon along the sides. Maybe one day I will get it restored. I think I got my artistic ability from him.
I finished this painting of the old Methodist Chapel in Penkhull. I added some details including cobblestones reflecting the sky colours. The Chapel was built in 1836 about six years before the church was built on the top of the hill. Then of course I started something new.
This is a large image of a willow pattern platter. I’m a bit further on with it than this. I think I won’t be able to finish it till next week.
After this I went to sing at the church for the One night only show.
