I don’t think of myself as a writer. I love words, but mostly I’m more of a reader, and then as a dabbler at writing. I don’t really plot things, they generally fall out of my head and onto the paper or my mobile screen. I guess it’s just the way I am. I love being creative and since I finished work I’ve started to branch out. I feel like a little dabchick or duck. I paddle away, my feet just gently moving the water of words around, breaking the surface tension but not going deep. And what for? I’ve been told my grammar is not as good as it could be. I don’t do this for likes and views, it’s all quite low key. I don’t expect to ever write a novel. I did once try and write a children’s book, so long ago it’s still stored on a floppy disk!
As long as I don’t bore you too much.

Write for yourself, but hold up a high standard for yourself so you know you have made sense. There’s nothing else that matters. Like painters, there are 900 trillion writers in this world. We’re kind of irrelevant except to ourselves and those who love us. ❤
O Me! O Life!
BY WALT WHITMAN
Oh me! Oh life! of the questions of these recurring,
Of the endless trains of the faithless, of cities fill’d with the foolish,
Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more faithless?)
Of eyes that vainly crave the light, of the objects mean, of the struggle ever renew’d,
Of the poor results of all, of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me,
Of the empty and useless years of the rest, with the rest me intertwined,
The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life?
Answer.
That you are here—that life exists and identity,
That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.

Thank you Martha. I’ve never read any Walt Whitman although I’ve heard his name, which I guess is something. I wish I was a more highbrow reader (my favourite things are Tolkien and Pratchett so you can tell I’m only dabbling. I may try and read some Whitman now x thanks x

Whitman is a little strange but sometimes very accessible. 🙂

Your writing is unique to you. Don’t worry what others think. Write about what makes you feel good. Keep documenting your thoughts.
I had a goal to publish a book. I did self publish in the form of an ebook. I have sold three copies in one year and that doesn’t bother me in the slightest.
