This tiny bat was flitting around the back of the village hall last night. I know they are fuzzy photos but all I can say is we watched it for about ten minutes. I think it was a pipistrelle bat. It was hard to get a clear shot because it was moving so fast.
There were a few moths about and I think it was trying to catch them. I wish I had a bat detector. It transforms the high pitched call of a bat into a clicking sound you can hear.
Anyway that’s what happened last night. No vampires were harmed taking these photos. X

I’m old enough to remember some old vampire films. I also liked Buffy the vampire slayer.

Me, just short stories here. Very short, a bit scary and humorous. Not very often…. Might try a vampire one. Don’t expect it to be wonderful though…

Bats in our part of the world are a rare sighting, as most of the population was killed off several years back by a fungal disease, but the last few years I have been seeing a few of them and hope they are making a comeback, so it is great to see a photo of one. Thank you for sharing this.

We get them round the back of our garden too. There is a local bat group and you can go on bat walks locally.

That is very cool! I am thinking to build a few bathouses for our property to encourage their return.

There is an old book by Gerald Durrell. I think it’s called bat’s in my belfry.
