Opportunity

One of our local museums, the Brampton, in Newcastle under Lyme, is letting the Orme Art Group exhibit work in their entrance window from the end of January for two months. It’s a chance to sell work or at least get our work in front of a new audience. We each can show one work plus some smaller pieces. Plus it gets a painting out of the house for a while. I hope the display does well.

Painting on display

My willow pattern painting of a large platter is up at Etruria Industrial museum now. I used two different reference photos of two separate patterns to make it more unique. I also designed the surrounding pattern myself. I tried to make it look like it was on display on a shiny surface, hence the reflections…. I’m feeling a bit better now so might have to go shopping. Oh what joy. But the fridge is empty. The eating machine (aka hubby) has been snacking again…

We saw this in Liverpool during a trip to see the terracotta army statues several months ago. I was amazed at its size and took a photo, then forgot about it.

I couldn’t get a clear image due to the lights reflecting on the case. Like any other living animal I would rather it was still alive and in the sea swimming around. How old was it when it was fished out of the sea? Could they have thrown it back? Or was it kept as a trophy because of its size? I wonder what age they reach, and how big.

Nature is wonderful, we need to look after it. X
